West Point’s Glee Club

to Perform Concert in Freehold

The Glee Club from the United States Military Academy at West Point will be making a rare New Jersey appearance on Friday, March 26th at 7:30 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Freehold located at 118 W. Main St. in Freehold Borough.

“This is only the 4th time in the past 10 years that the West Point Glee Club has performed in New Jersey, so this becomes a very significant and special program for Freehold and our church,” said Dr. Robert M. DiSogra, Chairperson of the Special Music Committee at the church. The church hosted the African Children’s Choir last September and annually presents a Christmas holiday concert featuring world renowned artists.

The concert is free to the public however there will be a free will offering after the program. Early arrival is recommended. There are 500 seats available in the church.

The Cadet Glee Club has its roots firmly embedded in the time-honored traditions of the United States Corps of Cadets. Secular singing in one form or another has been in evidence at West Point since the Academy's founding in 1802.

First organized in 1903 the Cadet Glee Club is now a 70 - voice mixed chorus whose members serve as musical ambassadors for West Point and rank among our nation's most prestigious college choirs.

Under the direction of Constance Chase, the Glee Club is in frequent demand for televised appearances as well as public appearances nationally and internationally. “We have been on their waiting list for over 3 years,” DiSogra said.

Upon graduation from the Academy, cadets are commissioned as Second Lieutenants and begin their service to the nation as officers in the United States Army.
